Had a few trips under the desk in Minnesota in the 60’s. My junior high school even staged a “mock” nuclear attack. We did well. The problem was they never told anyone it was a drill. I will never forget the girls screaming and the tough guys crying under their desks. If it happened these days, the principal would be fired or arrested (or both). In those days he was promoted to Superintendent of Schools. I am sure some of us kids suffered life-long trauma from that stunt. That’s just one of my memories of the cold war.
