In general, though, conservatives do love America. This is true.

I disagree. The current crop of conservatives don’t have the capacity to love the country. They have been swallowed up by the quest for power over others and money. Compassion and care for those less fortunate is a lost virtue.
Most of the current crop of elected conservatives most directly involved with propping Trump up look like they have given up and thrown caution to the wind. The MAGA base all by itself is not enough to reelect Trump but that base is all Trump and anyone tied to him. It’s a form of wreckless and soulless abandon.
