That’s right, Mr. Donald J. Trump. It was and still is all about you. Don’t be too anxious to announce your candidacy for the presidency in 2024. Your party does not want you to run; does not need your help and wishes that you would just go away.
Your pre-election rallies in which you led Republican voters to believe you were truly interested in boosting support for your party’s nominees were predictably, relentlessly and boringly focused only on yourself and your big lies about the stolen 2020 election against all the absence of proof of your lies. Post election investigations and audits have never confirmed your outright bullshit claims.
You have been the biggest mouth and the grandest liar of an entire pool hall choir where you sang your song and for awhile scrambled your gullibles.
Donald, your narcissism is your trademark and it was your narcissism and not your high hopes for your future that the midterm elections were all about. Certainly it was not about your dumb ass lack of ability to pick good candidates. Almost the entirety of those you chose who lost their bids after they had sipped a lot of your koolaid and had cast doubt on or outright denied the legitimacy of the 2020 election.
So a silent majority, to quote the old phrase, got up of it’s duff and proceeded to give the nation a mid-term house cleaning that your Republican Party had made certain was needed.
For the next two years you will have a looming presence over the political strategies and fortunes of the party you took over and then strangled. Your own party is fully aware that right now you repel silent voters who decide elections. This is a sinking ship you cannot float to safer waters. You are the overweight lump of anchor dragging the party down.
None of us are waiting with bated breath.
It might be too late for your party to drain the swamp you only made slimier over the course of your 4-year disaster as president.
You have no credibility. But if you must make a fool of yourself, quickly announce your 2024 candidacy, ride your golden escalator one more time down to the floor of one of your tarnished gold palaces.
We’ll be yawning.
Oh, and what’s wrong with Herschel Walker? Where should we begin?
“If, in fact, Georgia is not the difference between controlling the United States Senate for Republicans, what is the marketing campaign to elect Herschel Walker, who literally is not competent to be a senator? They all know that, who’s got all sorts of issues with the truth, they all know that but there’s no incentive,” said anchor Joy Reid. “How would they even do that marketing campaign?”

Oh, and the Donald tried his January 6 tactic one more time.

Stop writing about him. Focus on the remainders of the party who are still in power. McCarthy.
DeSantis. Cruz. Rubio. Many others. They are still in power and may wield it much more skillfully than he did. They are veiled in normalcy which makes them much more dangerous. They can manipulate more people than the typical MAGA stereotype. They will define 2024 and the center of the next race for the soul of the country. Direct attention to your own state of Idaho. One of the strangest and most radically right in the nation. Lots of fodder to uncover there.
Good points. This post was my public celebration … necessary for my sanity.
I don’t think I will rest comfortably until he is indicted and convicted so I understand your need. However, its time to move on and focus on surviving as a country. Liz Cheney is correct (and I never thought I’d say that about any Cheney in any way), this is about our survival as a nation. His allies are scheming to take over our national processes and our nation as a whole. He started it (actually probably more like Newt Gingrich did) and they now aim to finish it. Its got to be revealed down to the person and stopped, or we have no chance to be here long-term.
I agree Michael. I thought I’d just cruise further into retirement and let the youngers tackle it. Still have that attitude but there is still that personally felt obligation to stay civically involved and I guess I’ll be going after the rest of that gang.
